What is GPS?

The Global Positioning System, usually called GPS, is the only fully-functional satellite navigation system. A constellation of more than two dozen GPS satellites broadcasts precise timing signals by radio, allowing any GPS receiver to accurately determine its location (longitude, latitude, and altitude) in any weather, day or night, anywhere on Earth.
GPS has become a vital global utility, indispensable for modern navigation on land, sea, and air around the world, as well as an important tool for map-making and land surveying. GPS also provides an extremely precise time reference, required for telecommunications and some scientific research, including the study of earthquakes. GPS receivers can also gauge altitude and speed with a very high degree of accuracy
.
What affects GPS accuracy?

Many factors affect how accurate your GPS is. The atmosphere, the ionosphere and the position of your receiver could all affect GPS accuracy. Any buildings, natural structures or heavy foliage that obstructs the GPS' view of the sky may decrease the position accuracy.
What if I am outside GSM coverage area?

Your T22 will store up to 10 outgoing messages until it is connected to the GSM network.
Why is my T22 not responding?

• Check if the unit has power and not sleeping. You may see this with its green LED blinking. If this is your first use or the unit has been stored charge for 3.5 hours
• Verify that GSM is working by calling the unit to see if you hear a ring tone.
If no ring tone:
• There may be no GSM coverage, so move the unit to a suitable location
• Verify that the PIN code was removed from the SIM
• Remove the PIN code from the SIM
• Verify you have the correct phone number
• Verify that the SIM is properly inserted
If you hear a ring tone:
• Verify that the pre-paid SIM has credits (you can check that the SIM is ok by using it a mobile phone and sending a SMS)
• Verify the user has a high enough authority to send the command
• Verify that your phone number is correct in the user list. If not sure you can easily re-register yourself as the owner by sending OWNER,password to the unit
• Remove and re-insert the battery in the unit
How does the unit security work?

There are 3 user levels in the system
1. Owner - Can issue configuration commands and all below
2. Friend - Can use the reporting of the system and Guest commands
3. Guest - Can issue Find, Help and Status commands
Unregistered users and users without high enough security will not receive any response from the T22.
What if I lose my phone?

You can re-register yourself as an owner by sending OWNER,password to your T22.
I am unable to get my first location for more than 5 minutes, what could be the problem?

1. There should be no nearby tall buildings or houses.
2. Antenna signal will not pass through metallic or magic type tint.
3. Vehicle should not be moving when trying to get your first fix.
4. Units should not be placed or covered behind metal objects.
5. Acquiring your first location should take only 1 to 5 minutes with a good GPS signal in the area. Should the acquiring of signal take so long simply remove the unit battery and re-insert it again - this re-starts the search process.
How long does it take for the unit to get its position?

With ideal conditions 1 to 5 minutes the first time you use the unit. The unit can re-establish its location in a few seconds.
How many landmarks can the system hold?

T22 can hold over 10,000 landmarks. Users can add hundreds of their own landmarks.
Why is my T22 not charging?

• Check that the battery is installed
• If first use or after a long period of storage, charge the battery for 3.5 hours. The power light will come on in 5-10 minutes
• Replace the battery. Like mobile phones a T22 battery will wear out after a few years
How long does the battery last?

One day with constant usage and weeks with limited activity. This is determined by how much time the unit is sleeping.
How do the sleep modes work?

T22 is designed only to use power when moving. T22 goes to sleep one hour after a trip or 10 minutes after waking up. T22 uses progressive sleep modes to save battery life.
1. The first mode shuts off the GPS and wakes up once an hour for 6 hours.
2. The second mode shuts off the GPS and GSM and wakes up once an hour for 5 days.
3. The third mode is like the second but wakes up once a day until the battery is depleted.
T22 wakes up when movement is detected, the ignition is turned on, a button is pressed, or when a SMS is received (sleep mode 1 only). You can turn sleep mode off, or change the wakeup time and length of the sleep modes . |
